Aphantasia is the inability to create mental imagery. As with most things, there is a spectrum as to how severely it affects people. I am completely unable to create images in my head. Trying to imagine an apple yields a field of black. Imagine my complete surprise, then, when I heard that other people almost had movies in their head when they read books. I couldn't visualize an apple, or the face of my parents--imagining something I had never seen, a fantastical world created by prose and wit--was completely beyond me.
Despite this, I've been an avid reader all my life. I've been captivated by the extensive worlds that authors have created, and the complex systems the stories inhabit. However, all the descriptions of peoples faces and the scenery do nothing for me, and it's always been something I would gloss over. As such, you might find that my books lack the usual descriptions found in most works.
My reading experience has always been about the prose, the themes, and the story that it told. I was inspired by a plethora of works and felt the need to create a work of my own.
So here we are now, with the first book of The Midnight Saga: The Midnight War.
